A Focus for Praying

Reflection:

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my savior and my God. Psalm 42:5.

Give thanks for:

Warm, safe and clean homes where we can grow in faith together. Christian Activists working for justice in Australia a and the world. The faith and life of the children among us who encourage us to be creative and accountable.

Pray for:

Those among us and around us suffering the loss of loved ones. The families and communities of those people killed or maimed in the Orlando shooting. Refugees seeking asylum and safety: May they be seen, heard and treated with dignity and kindness.

A Message from the Minister:

Fear not! Is found at least 100 times in scripture. “But in the world today there seems to be so much to fear.” Well that’s what the media and politicians and companies selling the latest safety gadgets would have us believe.

Fear is clearly a method of control, persuasion and motivation. According to scripture it has been so for thousands of years, probably longer. But fear is not the way God plans to influence or encourage the world. God’s plan is to love the world.

Even as humanity insists on repeating all sorts of terrifying acts, God works to love us into safer, more compassionate lives. Lives that can help others flourish. To fear is to deny God’s loving presence. So do not fear, God has a future filled with love for WPUC.
